Dr. Berenter was the only surgeon that suggested a titanium implant for my big toe instead of fusing. He’s such a good person to discuss your options with — very down-to-earth and straightforward. I had the surgery on my right foot and it’s so successful. I’m pain-free! That convinced me to do my left foot too.
Dr. Berenter is an amazing sports-medicine podiatrist. His ability to quickly diagnose and treat problems is remarkable. I truly can’t say enough about the excellent care and concern he conveys when finding a solution to foot pain.
Dr. Berenter is the best! I had a bunionectomy 35 years ago and was in pain for almost a year. When the same foot started hurting again 30+ years later, I dreaded it — but he told me I would “not be in pain hardly at all.” Well, I don’t even think I took one pain pill. I’ve referred many people to him in my senior community.
Yes. Dr. Berenter’s office accepts Medicare, along with most major commercial plans including Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, TRICARE and UnitedHealthcare. Call 858-455-6460 and we will confirm your specific plan before your visit.
Foot surgery is typically covered when it is medically necessary — when the deformity causes pain or interferes with function, as opposed to a purely cosmetic concern. Every plan sets its own deductible, copay and authorization rules, so we verify your benefits before scheduling.
Bring your insurance card, a photo ID, a list of your current medications, any recent foot X-rays or imaging, and the shoes you wear most often — worn shoes tell Dr. Berenter a great deal about how you walk.
That depends on your plan. HMO plans generally require a referral from your primary care physician; most PPO plans do not. If you are unsure, call 858-455-6460 and we will check for you.
